Paradise Lost! The greatest poem in the English language! I designed this 30-slide PowerPoint to introduce this gem to my High School English students, and to serve as a study guide for them. It includes a summary of each of the 12 books of Paradise Lost, along with an analysis of important lines from each book. Several introductory slides also include information about John Milton, some historical background to his work*, and some of the important themes. Every slide has additional speaker notes, which you can either read verbatim to your class or modify as needed.
 
 
*By the way, the cirumstances under which Milton wrote Paradise Lost (sick, blind, and recently widowed) are quite moving. It is amazing that such a beautiful work as Paradise Lost came out of such intense grief and pain as Milton's.
