I made this 10-side powerpoint to introduce Beowulf to my high school students. It covers the history, setting, and literary significance of the poem. It also introduces students to the main characters, major themes, and cultural background of Beowulf. I have included speaker notes on each slide, which you can either read verbatim to your class or modify as needed. The last slide is a helpful chart showing how each character in Beowulf is related to all the other characters, which can be printed if desired and given to students as a handout.
